I’m Helen — a childminder in Weymouth offering a warm, home from home setting.
Hello, I’ve been a registered childminder for over 11 years, and I care for young children in a cosy, family environment where they can play, learn and feel completely at ease.
My home is calm, welcoming and full of opportunities for children to explore — from imaginative play and building to stories, sensory play and plenty of giggles. The children love our cosy reading area, our busy conservatory full of activities, and the freedom to follow their interests throughout the day.

You’ll see plenty of real, hands-on play here — nothing too formal, nothing too rushed. Just thoughtful experiences, lots of conversation, and a nurturing environment where children can grow at their own pace.
Out and About
We love getting involved in the local community. Our regular adventures include:

Children get so much joy (and confidence!) from being part of our wider community, and being out and about brings lots of natural learning opportunities.
Learning Through Play
I follow the EYFS, but in a relaxed, child-led way where learning happens naturally through play.
Children make the most authentic progress when they’re exploring, discovering and following their own ideas — and that’s exactly what we do here.
You’ll see children learning through:

spotting birds or collecting treasures on a walk

mixing ingredients for playdough

retelling favourite stories

imaginative role play and caring for dolls

making marks, patterns and pictures with different materials
These everyday moments are full of genuine, meaningful learning. I support children’s language, social-emotional skills and curiosity simply by joining in, modelling, chatting and extending what they’re already interested in.

Qualifications & Experience
I’m a qualified Early Years Practitioner (Level 3 Diploma) with up-to-date paediatric first aid, full DBS checks, and comprehensive insurance. I’m also accredited in Hygge in the Early Years and Schema Play. I’m a very reflective practitioner and regularly attend training to keep my practice current and inspiring for the children in my care.
