About our  Setting

A Home-from-Home Environment

My setting is designed to feel safe, calm and welcoming — a place where children can relax, play and learn at their own pace. We spend most of our time in the bright conservatory playroom, with cosy corners for quieter moments, an inviting role-play area, and spaces for messy, sensory and small-world play. Children have plenty of opportunities to choose activities independently, helping them build confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging.

My Approach & Curriculum

My curriculum is rooted in connection, curiosity and authentic child-led learning. I draw on approaches that support children’s wellbeing and development, including:

  • Hygge in the Early Years Accreditation
Helping me create a warm, nurturing, mindful atmosphere where children feel safe and emotionally held.

  • SchemaPlay Accreditation
Supporting me to recognise children’s deep thinking and patterns of play so I can plan activities that truly match their interests.

  • Plastic Free Nurseries Status
This training strengthened my practice around sustainability and mindful resource choices.

Together, these elements shape an environment that values relationships, playfulness, and purposeful learning. I love watching children follow their ideas, test their theories, be wonderfully imaginative and learn in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Out & About

We regularly visit our local playgroup and also take part in intergenerational sessions at a nearby care home. These experiences help children build confidence, develop empathy and make real connections with people in our community.

Meals, Snacks & Care Routines

I provide healthy, balanced snacks and drinks throughout the day, and work closely with parents to support their child’s eating habits and routines. I follow current EYFS guidance around healthy choices and oral health, and I’m always happy to share ideas to help children build positive habits for life.

Parents provide packed lunches, and I encourage simple, nutritious options so children can stay fuelled for play and learning. My full Healthy Lifestyle Policy is available to read any time.
